Other things to note
As we're located in the bush close to a river and water reservoirs, mosquitoes are common, particularly in the evenings. We recommend bringing and using insect repellent. For your comfort, we also provide insect spray and plug-in mosquito repellents inside the tent.
Being surrounded by nature also means you may occasionally encounter some of our smaller neighbours, such as spiders, beetles or lizards. We do our best to keep them outside, but as with any bush property, we can't guarantee that the occasional visitor won't find its way inside the tent. If you're very uncomfortable around insects or spiders, our accommodation may not be the best fit for you.
Wi-Fi is available within the tent and is suitable for general browsing, messaging and emails. As we're in a remote location, speeds may not always be sufficient for streaming or heavy data use, and occasional weather-related or network outages can occur. Airtel and Safaricom mobile networks are available in the compound, although signal can sometimes be limited.
Staying off-grid
One of the things guests love most about Kobi Farm is that it's completely off-grid, powered entirely by solar energy. This means no noisy generators and no interruptions from national grid power cuts. To help us protect the system, we ask that you don't use high-power appliances such as hair dryers or electric kettles. If you're unsure whether an appliance is suitable, just ask—we're happy to help.
We also rely entirely on harvested rainwater, which is especially precious during dry seasons. We'd be grateful if you could help us conserve water by keeping showers to around 10 minutes maximum, turning off taps when not in use, and collecting the cold water while waiting for the shower to warm up using the bucket provided. It's perfect for watering the flowers instead of going to waste.
Our toilet is connected to an environmentally friendly biodigester system, so please flush only toilet paper. For all other items, please use the bins provided.
Smoking is not permitted inside the tent, but you're welcome to smoke outside using the ashtray provided.
